  • Web 2.0 and Language

I just finished the first draft of a plan to use Web 2.0 technology with a magazine.  The first (and most obvious) question I had to answer was what Web 2.0 is. So, as a proper member of my generation, I started with Google.   It was interesting to see that there is no consistent description or explanation out there for Web 2.0 that I could find.  It reminded me of a video my old roommate showed me which I loved.

Web 2.0 and Erin McKean’s talk at TED share a lot in common.  Erin is talking about Dictionaries 2.0 of sorts, but I love her take on language.  Language, we know, is about communication.  Her view on the appropriateness of undictionaried words and the fluidity of expression is interesting.  Undictionaried words, or phrases like Web 2.0, are a testament to the intelligence of language and of us.

    Thoughts?
